External reservoir

The external reservoir ER Series coilovers allow BC Racing to increase the oil capacity of the damper unit. The additional oil capacity reduces peak oil temperatures which decreases variations in damping rates due to oil viscosity changes. The reduction in damping rate variations improves handling and ultimate on road and track performance.

Corner Weight Adjustment Height Adjustment Damping Adjustment
The adjustable lower spring platform of BC Racing coilovers offers the flexibility to fine-tune the vehicle's setup for corner weighting, achieving an optimal balance and maximizing tire efficiency. To enhance performance, it's crucial to distribute equal weight on each tire within an axle. This means ensuring both front tires bear equal loads, as well as both rear tires. This balanced distribution ensures that each tire contributes equally during cornering, leading to improved overall grip, heightened cornering speeds, and reduced lap times. For further customization, optional assister springs are available, allowing for precise adjustment of wheel droop within the unit to meet specific requirements. The ride height is dictated by the placement of the coilover bottom mount, which can be adjusted by winding it up or down the damper body, providing a comprehensive range of customization. With the ride height being controlled through the adjustable bottom mount rather than the spring platform, you maintain complete damper travel regardless of the chosen ride height setting. The ER coilovers boast a 30-way damping adjustment that conveniently combines both rebound and compression in a single adjuster for user-friendly simplicity. This adjustable feature empowers you to fine-tune your vehicle to suit specific driving conditions. Refining the handling of the car can be achieved by adjusting the damping settings for both the front and rear. For instance, increasing the damping force on the rear compared to the front will shift the vehicle toward a more oversteer-oriented stance.

Pillowball (Rose Joint) Upper Mount Camber Adjustment Corrosion Protection
Many BC Racing Coilovers are equipped with pillowball upper mounts. Constructed from aluminium alloy, the mount undergoes an anodizing process and bead blasting for a durable, high-quality finish. These Japanese-manufactured pillowballs eliminate the flex or play commonly found in standard rubber mounts, resulting in sharper response, improved handling, and enhanced overall performance. If camber adjustment is possible on your vehicle, BC Racing coilovers automatically include camber-adjustable aluminium pillowball top mounts. These use the same high-quality Japanese pillowball but add the benefit of camber adjustment to suit various applications—whether for road, track, or drift use. The damper bodies are made from black-chromed steel for long-term durability, even in harsh European winters. Aluminium parts like top mounts and locking collars are anodized, and steel lower mounts receive electrophoretic coating followed by powder coating. To ensure quality, components such as brackets, dampers, and screws are randomly selected each month for salt spray testing to verify corrosion resistance meets the highest standards.

Patented Concave Lower Locking Collar High Quality Coil Springs High Quality Oil
Coilovers use a locking collar to prevent the bottom mount from becoming loose. If it does, the damper body can slip downward, lowering ride height on that corner and creating dangerous handling issues—a common problem with coilovers. BC Racing solves this with a patented lower locking collar featuring a beveled edge that seats into a matching bevel in the bottom mount. This significantly increases the surface area, reducing the chance of the collar working loose. BC Racing coilovers are equipped with springs made from SAE9254 high-strength, cold-wound steel. These springs undergo rigorous compression testing through over 500,000 cycles, with less than 5% deformation—ensuring exceptional durability, strength, and consistent performance over time. Only high-quality oil is used in BC Racing dampers to maintain consistent damping both during use and over the long term. The oil resists degradation, maximizing damper longevity. Combined with a sophisticated shim stack design, the system delivers precise compression and rebound control, even in extreme conditions.

Nitrogen Pressurised Dampers Bearing Mounted Upper Spring Platform Optional Upgrades
Under high-demand use like track days or bumpy roads, dampers can experience oil aeration and cavitation, reducing damping effectiveness due to foaming and viscosity loss. BC Racing combats this by pressurizing the damper with nitrogen. The nitrogen acts on a floating piston to maintain consistent pressure on the oil, significantly reducing aeration and improving damping consistency. This also adds a small amount of effective spring rate, enhancing performance. During compression, springs twist, creating tension between the spring and seats—leading to binding, wear, or loosening of the platform and collars. This can result in uneven ride height or spring dislocation under full extension. It also increases steering effort due to friction as the spring rotates with the wheels. BC Racing’s bearing-mounted upper spring platform reduces stiction, prevents binding, improves steering feel, and helps the damper and spring perform optimally. Damper adjusting extenders: Available in 110mm, 200mm, and 250mm lengths, these allow quick access to damping knobs—especially useful in rear setups. Assister spring perch: Enables the use of a smaller secondary spring to add droop or modify ride characteristics. Pillowball top mount upgrade: For vehicles supplied with hardened rubber mounts, this upgrade removes flex and improves handling for a more aggressive feel.
