GENERAL GARRETT G SERIES TURBOCHARGER
The latest generation of turbochargers from Garrett is the further development of the GTX series. More efficiency and more features are here. In addition to significantly higher air throughput with the same wheel size and extremely high-temperature resilience for the exhaust shaft and housing, the chargers come with features with 4 water connections, double piston ring seals and preparation for the speed sensor.
- Right and left turning:
The absolute novelty of the GTX Gen II turbocharger was of course adopted in the G series. The G-Turbos are also available as reverse-rotating superchargers!
- Compressor wheel
All G compressor wheels are CFD designed, forged and milled from special, high-strength aluminum alloys. The new G-Series compressor wheels achieve up to 30% more flow (than the GTX Gen II series) compressor wheels.
- Compressor
Housing The new aero-optimized high-flow compressor housing with an integrated mount for optional speed measurement sensors are matched to the new G-series converter wheels. The recirculation systems, which have been improved for Generation I, were adopted in the G series and significantly expand the operating range of the compressor by shifting the surge limit.
- Core group
All Garrett G's feature 4 port water cooling. This means that 2 connections can be selected on each side. This greatly simplifies the installation of the water pipes. And of course, like the Gen II, the G series also comes with a double ceramic ball bearing. The double piston ring seal on both sides is new.
- Turbine wheel
The new exhaust wheels are made of the high-performance material Mar-M. This material easily withstands exhaust gas temperatures of up to 1050°C. Here, too, with the same wheel dimensions, 15-20% more throughput was achieved compared to the GTX turbocharger.
- Exhaust housing
The exhaust housings are cast from a special stainless steel alloy which can also withstand temperatures of up to 1050°C.
Correctly determine A/R value:
The A/R value determines the exhaust gas throughput of the exhaust housing and is therefore decisive for the performance of the turbocharger and engine. Basically, the lower the A/R value, the earlier the turbocharger responds, but on the other hand the exhaust backpressure increases, and the maximum output decreases.
